Well here we are well into the second week of Spring and, I don't know about you, but I'm getting antsy for the pending arrival of warmer days and the shedding of the 50 layers of clothes that I live in from the months of October to May. Rumour has it that this Spring is going to be a lot warmer than usual so I say why wait to get our skin all pretty-a-tized! Get a head start on a healthy glow with this sweet smelling, ultra-moisturizing and wonderfully brightening body scrub that you can make from items already in your pantry! What You'll Need Not much. These items are in most people's pantry already so go grab them and let's whip this baby up! All you need is:
What You'll Need to Do It doesn't get easier than this! First, if your coconut oil is solidified (if you live in the Great White North like I do, it's still cold out so your coconut will be solid), simply melt it in a double boiler or, if you're cool like me, in a bowl over a pot of boiling water. Once your coconut oil is melted, stir in the coconut milk and sugar until well blended, then add the lemon juice and lemon rind, mixing until all ingredients are combined well. I LOVE the scent of lemon so I kick things up a notch and add in about 10 drops of lemon essential oil. The wonderful scent of the lemon helps kick start my brain right before my early morning showers and it's just such a happy and enlightening scent that it makes for a joyful start to the day. And that's all there is to it! Once all ingredients are combined, just pour into an air-tight glass jar.
To use, simply massage all over your dry skin before showering. Rinse off and then cleanse as you usually do. The coconut oil and coconut milk are wildly hydrating for skin that has weathered the long and dreary winter. The sugar will exfoliate and slough off that dead winter skin and the lemon will help lighten and brighten giving your skin a gorgeous glow.....just in time for t-shirt and shorts weather! The best part about this scrub? It's super economical to make and 100% toxin and cruelty free! Definitely a scrub you can feel good about making and using. Enjoy your blissful glow my lovelies!
