We go through quite a bit of granola in our house. Hubby always has a small bowl as a mid-morning snack while at work, and I love to add a little to my chia seed pudding (see my post of February 21, 2016 for that recipe) and other snacks that I want to add a little extra substance and crunch to. For years, until I learned how to properly read ingredient labels, I bought a popular brand of granola that really didn't do much for my family other than add extra sugar, GMO's and toxic preservatives to our system. Now I understand how incredibly easy it is to whip up a batch of my own granola and fuel my family's bodies with wholesome nutrient-packed goodness with the added bonus of it containing a big dose of Vitamin L....Love. Awwwwww......
This granola is packed with protein, Omega-3 fatty acids which are so important for every cell membrane in our body (especially our heart and brain!), good saturated fat, calcium, magnesium, B vitamins, fiber and more. I promise you that you'll never go back to mass-produced granola after you've whipped up a batch of this sweet and crunchy goodness.
Let's get to it....
I don't know about you, but I am a serious creature of habit and quite often find myself making the same meals over and over again because it's quick and easy. And, when you have kids who are picky eaters, when you find foods that your kids will actually eat without making screwy faces and complaining, you roll with it for a while because it saves a lot of aggravation. For as long as I can remember, I have been a lover of a hearty smoothie for breakfast. I still love my smoothies and always will, but lately I've been getting a little bored and wanting to shake things up a bit for myself. Inspired by a recent trip to a cute little juice bar/vegan eatery, I created this seriously delicious and outrageously nutritious chia breakfast pudding that is guaranteed to put a spring in your step and a smile on your face to start your day,
It's been a relentlessly busy couple of weeks here at Blissful Vitality headquarters leaving me with little time to sit down and do much blogging, but with Valentine's Day right around the corner, it just wouldn't be right of me to let the day pass without a piece on my favourite food of all time, my "Desert Island Food"...CHOCOLATE. I mean, I just can't live without the stuff! I know, I know, it sounds like I have addiction issues (well....maybe...sort of....okay, yes), but the kind of chocolate that I dream of and savour every blissful bit of isn't your average, everyday grocery store check-out bar. It's the real deal. And there couldn't be a better gift to give your special someone this Valentine's Day than a good, healthy dose of it.
